No one would argue that the Internet is one of the most influential developments of all time. In business, it has lead to new industries
while reducing others to rubble. Never in history has it been possible to reach so many with complete anonymity. The opportunities for
those who choose to do business on the web are unprecidented if they can be seen.
The downfall is that the same Internet that offers new and virtually unlimited opportunities for doing business also gives thieves and
scam artists a whole new medium to ply their trade. One area that is repleat with unsavory individuals who range from being
ignorant to outright theives is the field of Search Engine Marketing. Also, promoted as Search Engine Optimization or
Search Engine Positioning, it is a field that can lead a company to riches or take it to the cleaners.
As an SEO professional, it is my goal to empower organizations to build strength in their own Internet presence by taking some of the
mystery out of Search Engine Marketing tactics. SEO campaigns often cost businesses thousands of dollars every month. Legitimate SEO
firms are worth it. The problem is that finding an honest, knowledgeable SEO is a little like finding a good mechanic. You know they're
out there, but how can you tell who's likely to produce the result you want before shelling out a lot of money?
SEO is not the only area of Internet marketing that one should be careful about deploying. Depending on your business, your website is the
first point of contact for perhaps millions of potential clients. Make sure that your site presents an accurate portrayal of your company.
As an Internet professional, I believe in empowering my clients to make decisions on their own. I am far less concerned with adding hours to
my client's bill than I am with ensuring that his or her goals for a website are reached.
